Associate Director Environmental Scientist

Fehily Timoney and Company is seeking to appoint an Associate Director of Environmental Science to join our Environmental Science team in either the Cork, Dublin or Carlow office. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the growth of our environmental services and will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of professionals.

This role provides exposure to a diverse range of environmental projects, including (but not limited to) planning and EIAR, waste management, infrastructure development, waste licensing and permitting, industrial emissions licensing, and environmental due diligence.

FT's Responsibilities

What would my main responsibilities be in this role?

  • Collaborating closely with the Group Director and Senior Leadership Team
  • Leading and managing the Environmental Science Team
  • Overseeing project planning and delivery in coordination  with Project Managers
  • Leading multidisciplinary civil and environmental design teams to ensure timely, high quality and cost-effective project delivery
  • Managing client relationships and overseeing effective communications
  • Identifying and driving business development and growth opportunities
  • Supervising, mentoring and supporting team members at various levels
  • Reviewing and approving technical reports, proposals and tender documentation
  • Ensuring adherence to quality assurance systems, management processes and relevant health and safety legislation

Skills / Qualifications

Are you the right person for the role?

  • A degree in relevant environmental discipline, with Chartership status
  • A minimum of 15 years post-graduate experience, including at least 5 years in a senior or managerial position
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary design teams
  • Strong track record of engagements with clients, external stakeholders and sub-consultants
  • Demonstrated experience in business development and client relationship management
  • Proficient in budget creation and financial management of projects
  • A dynamic and proactive professional with excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and a strong team member
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings as required
  • Full, clean driving licence
