FT provides consultancy services for a wide range of renewable energy projects including offshore wind, onshore wind, commercial scale solar PV, biomass and micro-hydro power. FT also provides professional services for gas pipelines, electrical infrastructure including battery storage and peaking plants and energy from waste projects.

Geotechnical Expertise

FT have a highly experienced in-house geotechnical and engineering geology team, with 10+ professionals experienced in all stages of energy project development including both wind and solar projects in Ireland and the U.K.

FT can offer:

  • Borrow pit assessment
  • Completion of Soils, Geology and Hydrogeology inputs to EIAR process
  • Geotechnical oversight of construction works
  • Geotechnical constraint and hazard identification
  • Peat stability risk and hazard assessment
  • Scoping and management of ground investigation
  • Foundation design at all stages (from conceptual to detailed design) for all energy infrastructure including turbines, substations, met masts, access tracks, compounds, solar sub-stations, solar mounting arrays and grid connections.

FT have been integrally involved in forensic assessment and research relating to peat failures in recent years and are fully conversant in the cutting edge practice in the area of upland development including the use of geophysics and remote sensing to augment fieldwork.
