Brief Description

Clane Historic Landfill a privately owned site. It is a former quarry, which was later operated for the disposal of municipal waste in the late 1980s. The Tier 2 and Tier 3 Risk Assessments were completed by a third party consultant.

The works included:

  • General site clearance including removal of semi mature trees, cutting back of hedges and removal of dense overgrowth
  • Excavation and regrading of existing cap material to achieve formation level
  • Vertical gas cut-off trench
  • Placement of gas collection system
  • Placement of sub-surface drainage system
  • Construction of surface water filter drains
  • Importation and placement of subsoil and topsoil capping material
  • Landscaping including equine exercise area
  • Fencing

FT Responsibilities

Fehily Timoney and Company was retained by Kildare County Council to complete:

  • Environmental monitoring works
  • Submissions of CoA derogation application to the remedial works to the satisfaction of the Environmental Protection Agency
  • Detailed design and implementation of the Remedial Action Plan
  • Undertake role of Project Supervisor for the Design Process
  • Procurement services including contract documents, procurement and tender assessment
  • Contract supervision and administration
  • Preparation of final account
  • Handover of completed works
  • Preparation of validation report
