Principal Structural Design Engineer
Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) is one of Ireland’s largest Irish owned consultants with centres of excellence in Civil Infrastructure, Waste & Resource Management and Renewables. FT provides design and contract management services for the construction of infrastructure projects such as roads, bridgeworks, rail, solid waste facilities, renewable energy, drainage, water and wastewater treatment facilities, airports, tunnels and gas pipelines.
FT is seeking to recruit a Principal Structural Design Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. The post will suit candidates with a minimum 10 years’ experience keen to apply their professional skills and experience in a busy and dynamic civil, structural and environmental engineering practice.
FT's Responsibilities
- Structural design of bridges including pre-stressed concrete bridges
- Structural design of other infrastructure and buildings including residential and utility buildings, underpasses, culverts, retaining walls, gantries, wind turbine bases and other miscellaneous structures
- Planning and managing CAD documentation of design work, working closely with CAD and Revit Technicians
- Working closely with other engineers including checking of their work
- Attend onsite meetings with the client and other professionals
- Ensure projects are delivered to the timescales, quality and costs agreed with the client
- Ensure compliance with our Quality Assurance and Management Systems
- Ensure compliance with the relevant Health and Safety legislation
Skills / Qualifications
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 10 years post-graduate experience in Civil and Structural Engineering
- Chartered Engineer status
- Experienced in the design of pre-stressed concrete bridges
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, CADS RC and Revit
- Working knowledge of structural analysis software such as Tekla Tedds/Midas Civil
- Experience working in a Consulting Engineering or similar company
- Excellent communication, management, analytical and organisational skills required
- Experience working and co-ordinating with technical specialists and engineers
- Efficient work methods, functioning both as part of team and on own initiative
- Experience organizing and delivering complex tasks involving multiple parties within a short timeframe
- The ability to adopt and work to new procedures and systems quickly.
- Must be prepared to travel to site visits and client meetings
- Full Drivers Licence
