Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) is one of Ireland’s largest indigenous engineering, environmental and scientific consultancies delivering projects in Sustainable Infrastructure, Circular Economy, Environment, Energy and Renewables.
FT is recruiting enthusiastic and ambitious Environmental Science student for a paid internship or work placement opportunity within our Dublin office
This is an opportunity to gain hands on experience working on real environmental projects while being supported by experienced environmental professionals, technical specialists and mentors who are committed to helping you develop your technical and professional skills.

You will work alongside environmental scientists, planners, engineers, and other specialists gaining valuable insight into how multidisciplinary teams deliver sustainable projects.
Role Overview
As an Environmental Scientist Intern, you will support project teams in delivering a wide range of environmental consultancy services across Ireland.
You will contribute to active projects, gain practical field and office experience, and develop the technical and professional skills required for a successful career in environmental consultancy.
FT's Responsibilities
Depending on project requirements and your experience, responsibilities may include:
- Assisting in the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs).
- Supporting Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA) and Appropriate Assessments (AA).
- Contributing to planning application documentation and environmental reports.
- Assisting with environmental monitoring programmes and site inspections.
- Collecting, reviewing and analysing environmental data.
- Supporting environmental compliance and regulatory assessments.
- Assisting with research into environmental legislation, policy and best practice.
- Preparing technical reports, figures and project documentation.
- Participating in project meetings and multidisciplinary workshops.
- Supporting project teams in delivering high-quality environmental services to clients.
Skills / Qualifications
Who We Are Looking For
Applicants should be:
- Available to be based in our Dublin office
- Be currently studying a Level 8 or Level 9 degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Geography, Earth Sciences or a related discipline.
- Have a strong interest in environmental consultancy and sustainable development.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Have strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Be comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Be willing to travel for site visits and fieldwork where required.
- Show enthusiasm, initiative and a willingness to learn.
Knowledge of environmental legislation, planning processes or environmental assessment would be advantageous but is not essential.
