Graduate Environmental Scientist

Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) is one of Ireland’s largest Irish-owned multidisciplinary consultancies, with centres of excellence in Civil Infrastructure, Waste and Resource Management, and Renewable Energy. We provide design and contract management services for major infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, rail, renewable energy developments, water and wastewater facilities, airports, tunnels, and gas pipelines.

FT is recruiting a Graduate Environmental Scientist to join our established Environmental Monitoring Team based in Dublin. This role is ideally suited to candidates with 1-2 years of post-graduate experience, particularly those with experience in environmental monitoring.

This opportunity offers the chance to have a varied role and cover a broad range of areas within the environmental sector. The position is predominantly site-based and will involve environmental monitoring activities at locations across Ireland. The successful candidate will work closely with senior team members, undertaking environmental monitoring, managing environmental data, conducting regulatory inspections, and preparing interpretative reports. The role will include monitoring and reporting on groundwater and surface water quality, air quality (dust and PM10), and biological assessments of surface waters.

FT's Responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior staff in delivering the workload assigned.
  • Undertake environmental monitoring, interpret & report on findings.
  • Take ownership for the delivery of individual projects from conception to execution.
  • Ensure that all deliverables meet the expected quality levels and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Manage sub-contractors and laboratories and review their work.
  • Prepare regulatory applications and assist with their implementation.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Level 8 degree in a relevant environmental science.
  • Candidate should be a high-energy professional with excellent communication, organisation and analytical skills.
  • Environmental monitoring and interpretative report writing experience would be an advantage.
  • Efficient work methods and ability to work both as part of team and on own initiative.
  • Familiarity with applicable environmental legislation and guidance and with Health and Safety procedures.
  • Ability to manage several priorities at once will be required as will a high level of commitment to success.
  • Full Drivers Licence essential.
