Senior/Principal Hydrologist
Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) is one of Ireland’s largest indigenous consultancies specialising in Sustainable Infrastructure, Circular Economy, Environment, Energy and Renewables.
FT provides design, contract management and consultancy services for infrastructure, renewable energy and environmental projects such as roads, greenways, active travel, bridgeworks, rail, drainage, wind farms, solar farms, BESS, solid waste, bio-waste and sludge management.
FT is recruiting a Senior/Principal Hydrologist who will work as an integral member of the Sustainable Infrastructure team in the Cork, Dublin or Carlow office, aid the expansion of the business and working closely with fellow professionals. The role will suit candidates with a minimum of 8 years of experience. The successful candidate will join an established company and will have the opportunity to broaden their existing range of technical and managerial skills and experiences. This role offers the successful candidate a clear path for further career development.
FT's Responsibilities
What would my main responsibilities be in this role?
- Providing technical guidance within the Drainage, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Geoscience Teams.
- Preparing technical reports and designs to support hydrology and drainage design, environmental impact assessments, environmental licensing and compliance monitoring.
- Preparation of Hydrology and Water Quality Chapters of Environmental Impact Assessments for large scale infrastructure projects.
- Preparing and reviewing Flood Risk Assessments (Stage 1, Stage II and Stage III).
- Designing, developing and coordinating Environmental Sampling & Monitoring programmes.
- Implementing field based works associated with projects, which might include surface water and groundwater monitoring.
- Maintaining and developing technical capability through Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Project and design management, compliance with health, safety and quality policies and procedures.
- Managing responses to request for tenders and develop proposals.
Skills / Qualifications
Am I the right person for the role?
- Minimum of honours degree in relevant discipline e.g., Environmental / Civil Engineering, Geoscience or equivalent.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with Flood Risk Assessment
- Ideally chartered with a relevant professional body or be willing to work towards chartership.
- Post-graduate / MSc degree an advantage but not essential.
- A good understanding of environmental guidance and legislation.
- Significant experience in the provision of environmental services at a senior level with good analytical skills.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.
- Experience of working on largescale infrastructure and renewable energy projects an advantage but not essential.
- Good business development outlook and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and external bodies.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Proven track record in preparing Hydrology and Water Quality Impact Assessments chapters for EIAR’s.
- Experience preparing Water Framework Directive Compliance Assessments.
- Experience designing surface water management systems for the management of surface water run-off and pollution control.
