MDY Construction Ltd., in conjunction with WTT (composting technology providers), were awarded the design build contract for the development of this food waste composting facility. FT provided support in relation to animal by-products approval, health and safety aspects, occupational noise assessment and odour assessment.
FT’s scope of work included:
- The preparation of Stage 1 and 2 animal by products application, including development of standard operating procedures and required documentation for facility operation
- The facilitation of a hazard and operability meeting for facility operation
- The carrying out of weekly occupational noise assessments over a six month operational period to develop a noise profile for the facility
- The engagement of a specialist subcontractor to carry out fortnightly odour assessments of facility biofilters over a six month operational period.

The developer proposed the construction of a bioenergy facility comprising of anaerobic digestion technology with combined heat and power generation for biowaste. FT provided the following services:
- Preliminary design of the development including facility layout, surface water management system, wastewater treatment system, junction upgrades etc.
- All baseline studies for noise, air, surface water, groundwater and ecology
- Air and noise prediction assessments using modelling software
- Assimilative capacity assessment
- Statutory consultation with the relevant consultees
- Landscape assessment
- Preparation and submission of planning applications
- Preparation of waste licence application.
