FT delivers Technical Talks at MTU, UCD and UCC

Overview

plus

Fehily Timoney was delighted to deliver a series of technical lectures to civil engineering students at Munster Technological University (MTU), University College Dublin (UCD) and University College Cork (UCC). The talks, organised by each university’s Civil Engineering Society, focused on the Geotechnical Design of the Dunkettle Interchange Upgrade Scheme—one of Ireland’s largest and most complex infrastructure projects in recent years.

Across the three universities, Beren De Hora, Director, and Tom Clayton, Associate Director, shared insights into the geotechnical challenges associated with the scheme, including ground conditions, settlement risks, ground improvement solutions and foundation design for major structures. Students were given a behind‑the‑scenes look at the technical decision‑making that supported the delivery of the complex infrastructure project.

The sessions sparked excellent engagement, with students raising thoughtful questions about geotechnical engineering, construction, project delivery and the role of multidisciplinary collaboration in major infrastructural projects.

FT values every opportunity to support the next generation of engineers and contribute to academic learning through real‑world project experience. We extend our thanks to the Civil Engineering Societies at MTU, UCD and UCC for the invitation and warm welcomes! Best of luck to you all!
