BASF Effluent Discharges to Public Sewers
Industrial
Brief Description
FT were engaged by BASF to provide an assessment of the discharge to sewers from the BASF facility at Little Island, Cork.
The Effluent Discharge Report was required to inform Irish Water about the effluent being discharged from the facility and the impact on the public sewers in the area.
The study assessed the discharge of treated effluent to an existing sewer and considered the impact on the public sewer and the effects of the effluent downstream of the BASF facility.
BASF operates under Industrial Emissions Directive Licence, issued by the Environmental Protection Agency and discharge limits agreed with Irish Water. The existing process, facilities and conditions of discharge were reviewed in line with the Irish Water Discharge Licence requirements.
The report also studied the compliance of the plant in relation to Best Available Techniques and controls in relation to wastewater production at the facility.
