Senior Engineer – Highways/Active Travel
Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) is one of Ireland’s largest Irish owned consultants with centres of excellence in Sustainable Infrastructure, Circular Economy, Environment and Renewables. FT provides design and contract management services for the construction of infrastructure projects such as roads, greenways, bridgeworks, rail, solid waste facilities, renewable energy, drainage, water and wastewater treatment facilities, airports, tunnels and gas pipelines.
FT is seeking to recruit a Senior Engineer (Highways/Active Travel) to join our Sustainable Infrastructure team in one of our offices in Cork, Dublin or Carlow.
The successful candidate will be a Chartered Engineer, or in the process of achieving Chartered status, and be experienced in the delivery of highway, active travel and/or greenway projects through the planning and design phases
The successful candidate will have the ability to deal directly with clients and stakeholders, and be capable of coordinating multi-disciplinary inputs to highways and active travel projects.
The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to lead the delivery on a number of our active travel projects and will also contribute to our portfolio of National Road and greenway projects.
The post will suit candidates with at least 7 years of experience keen to apply their professional skills and gain experience in a busy and dynamic multi-disciplinary engineering practice.
FT's Responsibilities
- Leading the delivery of highways, active travel and/or greenway projects
- Design of highways, active travel, and greenways projects
- Planning and managing CAD documentation, working closely with CAD Technicians
- Working closely with other Engineers, Ecologists and Scientists within the Company
- Supervising and mentoring junior staff within the Infrastructure sector
- Preparation of technical reports, tender and proposal documents
- Attend onsite meetings with the client and other professionals
- Ensure projects are delivered to the timescales, quality and costs agreed with the client
- Ensure compliance with our Quality Assurance and Management Systems
- Ensure compliance with the relevant Health and Safety legislation
Skills / Qualifications
- Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
- 7 years post-graduate experience in Civil Engineering
- Chartered Engineer status, or be in the process of achieving Chartered status
- Solid understanding of the requirements of design standards including TII, DMURS, NCM
- Solid understanding of the requirements of the TII Project Appraisal Guidelines and/or NTA Project Approval Guidelines
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus
- Working knowledge of civil design software
- Experience working in a Consulting Engineering or similar company
- Excellent communication, management, analytical and organisational skills required
- Experience working and coordinating with technical specialists and engineers
- Efficient work methods, functioning both as part of team and on own initiative
- Experience organising and delivering complex tasks involving multiple parties within a short timeframe
- The ability to adopt and work to new procedures and systems quickly
- Must be prepared to travel to site visits and client meetings
- Full Drivers Licence
