Fehily Timoney and Company in conjunction with our partners PM, a member of the Planet Consortium for EU External Cooperations Programme Lot 2 Framework, has been appointed as Works Supervisor under the EU ‘Practical Guide to Contract procedures for EC external actions’ (PRAG).
The title of the works contract is ‘The Closing of 8 no. Dumpsites in Kosovo’. The works, funded by the EU through the European Commission Liaison Office (ECLO) to Kosovo, are being carried out under the FIDIC Red Conditions of Contract with a value of €2.5M approx.
The landfill closure, capping and restoration contract for the 8 no. sites is due for completion in 2010. The Works Supervision contract commenced in December 2009 and it will be carried out over the next 2 years, including the Defects Notification Period. Full time resident supervision will be provided during the on-site phase by 2 of FTC’s Key Experts. FTC will act as the Supervising Engineer (FIDIC Red) on behalf of the ECLO and will assist the ECLO with all issues pertaining to the works contract. The 8 no. sites vary is size from 7,000m2 to 115,000m2 with extensive earthworks (250,000m3 on one particular site) being carried out as part of the contract. Surface water collection and attenuation, barrier layer, landscaping, fencing, access roads and environmental monitoring are incorporated within the works contract.
