Scotland - FTC Appointed by Zero Waste Scotland PDF Print E-mail

August 2011

Fehily Timoney & Company in association with Ramboll UK and IKM have been commissioned by ZWS (Zero Waste Scotland) to prepare business cases for the separate collection of food waste for a number of Local Authorities in Scotland.

These business cases comprised of financial and performance options appraisals. Their aim is to inform the Councils as to the collection service configuration that will enable Councils to introduce a separate food waste collection service at an affordable cost.

The assessment seeks to provide the Councils with an understanding of the services that would enable an Authority to maximise the diversion of food waste from landfill at an affordable cost and each option provide a comparison in relation to the existing service in terms of cost and recycling/composting rate. It is intended that these reports will be used to inform Council decision-making with regards to service option choice.
