At the recent AGM of the Association Mr. Eamon Timoney was elected President of the Association for the 2010/11 term.

Eamon Timoney is Managing Director of Fehily Timoney and Company, Consultants in Engineering & Environmental Sciences and joint Managing Director of Fehily Timoney Ramboll and Fehily Timoney Gifford.

Eamon graduated in 1976 with an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering from University College Dublin. Eamon has over 30 years experience in engineering consultancy.  At present, as well as his management functions in the company, Eamon project manages a number of high profile waste management projects including the South East Integrated Waste Services Public Private Partnership and waste projects in the UK and GCC.  He has presented a number of technical papers at seminars and conferences organised by the Institutions, EPA and Universities.

In the past his projects have included major inter urban road schemes, major bridge schemes, water and waste water projects and major projects in the pharmaceutical and bulk chemicals industries. He has won awards for both his environmental and bridgeworks projects.

After qualifying, Eamon worked with Waterford City Council before joining M.C.O’Sullivan Consulting Engineers in Cork in 1978. In 1990, he formed, in partnership with Brendan Fehily , Fehily Timoney and Company in Cork.

Eamon has been at the helm of FTC during the company’s delivery of some of Ireland’s most crucial infrastructure. These projects range from civil engineering projects to providing technical assistance to National and Local Authorities.  The list of projects includes:

• N15 Bundoran-Ballyshannon Bypass including the striking Cathleen’s Falls Bridge over the River Erne. The bridge won the Overall Award from the Irish Concrete Society in 2006
• Arthurstown Landfill in County Kildare (President’s Award for Excellence – ACEI),
• M9/M10 Waterford to Kilcullen Motorway, Phases 3 and 4,
• M7 Monasterevin Bypass,
• M11 Gorey to Arklow Motorway,
• Kinsale Road Landfill,  Cork,
• Arklow Bank Offshore Wind Park,
• Planning of the Cork Northern Ring Road, and
• Technical Advisor for the Procurement of 150,000 tpa Energy from Waste facility in Lincolnshire, UK

Whilst the economic downturn has had its effects, the practice continues to secure the design of major infrastructure both in Ireland and abroad, such as the design of Section 2 of the A5 Western Transport Corridor, a 30 km section of dual carriageway between Sion Hills and Omagh in Northern Ireland, the design of the A477 St Clears to Red Roses project in Wales with UK partners Gifford, construction supervision of landfills in Kosovo and in the UAE, and road construction supervision in Poland with Cork partners PM Ltd. The company continues to participate in the delivery of green energy and has to date delivered the planning and construction for 1,500 MW of wind energy in Ireland.

Eamon is a Registered Consulting Chartered Engineer, Fellow of Engineers Ireland, Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and Member of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management. Eamon is also a member of the Construction Industry Group (FAS) and a former member of the Board of Management of Gaelscoil Ui Riordan (Ballincollig).
