| Ireland - Curraleigh West to Midleton Gas Pipeline |
|
FTC, together with their joint venture partners, Fingleton White, are currently working on a large scale gas pipeline project on behalf of BGE - the Curraleigh West to Midleton Gas Pipeline. This pipeline project comprises approximately 47 km of high pressure, 600 mm diameter steel pipeline between Curraleigh West, north of Mitchelstown, to Midleton in County Cork. The pipeline is being installed to augment the existing Cork-Dublin pipeline and to secure gas supply to the Cork region going forward. FTC/FW have successfully managed the EIA and planning process for the pipeline, achieving planning consent from An Bord Pleanala (through the Strategic Infrastructure process) in December 2008. FTC/FW is also responsible for the detailed design and construction stages of the project. Following a restricted tendering process, Sicim-Roadbridge was appointed as the Main Contractor in January 2009 and construction is now ongoing, with an expected substantial completion date of October 2009. One of the key construction activities will be a trenchless crossing of the River Blackwater near Fermoy, which has numerous environmental designations. |
