UK: Lincolnshire County Council - Procurement of Integrated Waste Management Services incl 150,000 tpa Energy from Waste Facility

Fehily Timoney is a member of a JV consortium appointed by Lincolnshire County Council to act as their Technical Advisor for the procurement of a 150,000 tonne per annum Energy from Waste facility.

To support Lincolnshire County Council select the most appropriate technology to management residual waste and determine the require 20 year treatment capacity, FT prepared the following studies:
• Technical Options Appraisal
• Sustainability Assessment
• Outline Business Case

This project is being procured as a Service Contract using the Competitive Dialogue. 

UK: Welsh Assembly Government -Introduction of Direct and Variable Charging

FT International undertook a study which examined the legal and practical mechanisms for considering the introduction and implementation of Direct and Variable Charging (DVC) for residual household waste in Wales.

This study examined the strengths and weaknesses of the various DVCs systems which could be considered by WAG such as Pay By Weight, Pay By Use, Pay By Volume and the legislative mechanism by which DVCs could be introduced.  

This report contributed to the Brief of Evidence considered by WAG in developing the New Waste Strategy for Wales – Towards Zero Waste – One Wales: One Planet.

Romania - Provision of a Sludge Management Expert

FTC was retained by PM Group to provide the services of a Sludge Management Expert for the Rehabilitation of Waste Water Treatment Plant in Romania.

The Arad WWTP shall be built as a low loaded activated sludge plant with nitrification, denitrification and biological phosphorous removal to meet the EU Urban Wastewater Directive for sensitive areas.
FTC’s appointment is to develop “Asset Treatment Standards” for the treatment of sewage sludge prior to spreading to agricultural land, together with “Code of Practice” for the spreading of sewage sludge to agricultural land.  We will also establish further needs for legislation and development of a robust permit and regulatory system.
